DIGITAL ARTS

Design Your own art Project

Project Description:

To create this image, I took a few other images that I found cool and used them to put together a general idea for the final art piece. Then I just enhanced that idea by making more me. The general idea is that I wanted to use something to do with a silhouette, and a background colored in with various shades of blues, purples, teal, and aqua. To make it more me, I simply decided to color in the silhouette, and add a quote on top of everything. (Because quotes make everything better in the art world.)

Project Reflection:

I chose to create this project because I knew wanted to create something either on top of something, or with a part of the background cut out or part of the foreground cut out. So I was able to settle on cutting a price of the foreground out, and color that in with the cool color range, with various shades of the colors. The quote I found was off the internet (of course), I chose that one because I used the theme of a wolf throughout the project, because the cut section is a wolf so I chose to go with a wolf themed quote to add to my project.

Doodle For Google

Final Doodle For Google.jpg

For one of our many projects in Digital Arts, we were able to compete in the Doodle for Google contest. This contest is available to compete in once a year and is available to everyone, from age categories listed on the website, with a different theme each year. To create this project it was quite a lot of thinking and brainstorming, because each letter is different. The actual brainstorming process was difficult in the idea of the theme, for this year that was kindness. The idea creating process with the letters was only slightly less difficult. The letters in my Doodle are each represented by different things that you can do to be kind to someone.

G: The earth and and the sun shining around it; Be kind to our earth

O: A heart; Love every thing around us

O: Peace sign; Try to be at peace with people

G: Pear; Be kind to yourself by eating goof food

L: A door; Hold the door open for someone

E: A leaf; Treat nature kindly

The skills I learned at the beginning of this project was a bit difficult. It took quite a bit of trial and error. For example; I didn't know how to change the color of something, there are many ways to complete that task.

Header Tutorials

To create a header for my pages, we used the text tool and or an image that we took ourselves. This header is two images that fit into one. The first is the background and the second is in the text. To do this, I uploaded the two photos I wanted and ordered them in the layers. The top one is for inside the text and the one on the bottom is for the background. I used the text tool and I typed the words that we wanted. To create a clipping mask on the top image I held ALT and right clicked to create a text that had an image inside of it.

Project Reflection: I learned how to use the pen tool along with many other tools.

I used the pen tool to select the area around the eye and right clicked and made a selection. I then clicked two keys, Control and U to make the Hue/Saturation Window and changed it accordingly. I created a new layer. I then took the paint brush tool and colored over the hair. I then changed the setting to color with to Soft Light. The I erased the color where I didn't want it.

To create this effect, I took an image I found off of the internet into Photoshop. In a new layer I typed the word I wanted. To create a clipping mask I held ALT and right clicked in between the layers. The computer should put the image inside of the text.

I used the pen tool to select the tooth I wanted to change. I then right clicked and made a selection with 0 feather radius. With the tooth still selected I selected the Layer window in the maneuver bar. I selected the Layer via Copy.  With the selection copied onto a new layer, the Edit window and then the Transform sub section. Then I selected the Warp mini section. I then changed it accordingly, and took the eraser and refined the edge.

I found an image online that was large in size and saved the image as whatever it was named. I took the Marquee tool, or the selection tool. and selected the top half of the image. I copied it and made a new layer to copy the selection I just made in. The Background Layer you want to say "Layer 0" so double click on the Background layer and select ok. I used the Edit tab and hovered over the Transform section and selected the Scale mini section. Flip it vertically so that it mirrors the top half of the image. I selected the Layer 1 and renamed it Reflection. Then I selected the Reflection layer and converted it to Smart Object. I went to the Filter and selected Motion Blur. I opened a new document and made sure the size made it vertical. I filled the layer with black. I went to Filter, Noise and Add Noise, and made sure that the Amount was at maximum. Filter to Blur to Gaussian Blur and set the Radius to smaller pixels. In the Layer panel I went to the Channels and selected the Red Layer. With the Red Layer selected I went to Filter to Stylize then to Emboss. I then Changed the angle to 180 and the Height to 1 and the Amount maximum. I did the exact same with the Green Layer except the angle set to 90. The Amount and Height are the same. I then went to Edit to Transform to Perspective and stretched the lower part of the outwards as far as possible, the farther you go the smoother the effect. I then saved the new document as Wave Effect as a PSD, or Photoshop. I then went back to my original document I started and add the Wave Effect to the Reflection Layer. To do that I went to Filter to Distort to Displace. On the window that popped up I set the Horizontal scale to 10 and the Vertical scale to 40. I was asked to select a displacement map and selected the Wave Effect document I saved earlier.
